Just short

Mauna Kea Summit was our scheduled to be our next adventure though it ended at the Visitor's Center about halfway up.

This is considered the "Acclimation Station". It is strongly suggested all visitors stop here to allow their bodies to acclimate to the rapidly changing elevation and avoid altitude sickness

Driving up you rapidly advance from 4,000 to 9,000 ft at the Visitor's Center. The summit is over 13,802 ft. Temps were 81 on the coast while 56 at 9,000 feet. Potentially 38-40 degrees at the summit.

From this point on the road is dirt, 4x4 in 4L required, not an option.

Due to Carson not feeling well and Jane Anna being a bit unsure, we decided to snap a few pics then make our way back.
